Editorial Reviews:

The Citizen Eco-Drive Aqualand stainless steel men's chronograph watch will make a powerful statement when worn with both business and casual dress, but it's made to take the punishment of deep-water diving with its 200 meter (660 foot) water resistance. It also features a depth sensor that provides an accurate reading to 125 feet and will also record your maximum depth into memory.

This watch has a large, round silver stainless steel watch case--which measures 50mm (1.96 inches) wide and 16mm (0.63 inches) deep--that's topped by a unidirectional rotating bezel with black engraved elapsed time markings. The black dial background features three subdials (for the 50-minute chronograph, 24-hour display, and seconds), large luminous dial markers, luminous white-tipped hands (with red seconds hand). It's completed by a comfortable, durable rubber strap. Other features include a date display at 3 o'clock, scratch resistant mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating, and screw-back case, screw-down crown.

This watch is powered by Citizen's unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight and any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use. This watch's Eco-Drive provides a 60-day power reserve, and it can be recharged with just 2 hours of exposure to light.

Eco-Drive Frequently Asked Questions
How can you tell if the Eco-Drive watch is getting enough light? In normal use, the watch displays the time and the sweep-second hand moves in one second intervals. A very important feature of Eco-Drive is the Low Charge Warning Mode which as a result of low battery voltage, causes the second hand to jump two seconds at a time (while still keeping correct time).

How long will an Eco-Drive watch run after it is fully charged?
If your watch is put away where no light is available to it while in a fully charged state, depending on the model, it will run for from 45 days to 5 years.

How can the Eco-Drive watch be recharged?
Besides sunlight, it can be safely charged by exposing it to a fluorescent desk lamp, with the dial (face) up and within about 8 inches or an incandescent lamp (regular light bulb) no closer than 20 inches. Never use a halogen lamp since the heat generated by it can cause damage to your watch. The most efficient and the quickest is in direct bright sunlight (not windowsill) and never on the dashboard of a car.

Warranty
It's backed by Citizen's 5-year warranty (from original date of purchase).

About Citizen
One of the world's largest watch makers, the Citizen Watch Company was founded in 1924 in Japan from its beginnings as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute. The first watch released by the company was named "CITIZEN" and its name was selected so that it would be "close to the hearts of people everywhere." Today, Citizen is recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced timepiece technology, from the world's slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch to the world's first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor. Citizen was also the first to sell watches made with titanium in the world, which is not only light and durable but also non-allergenic (as stainless steel can be to some wearers). Most recently, Citizen has released watches powered by its Eco-Drive, which runs continuously in any kind of natural light or artificial light for a lifetime of use without changing a battery.

Summary: I wish I could do 4.5! Small issues, but great overall
Comment: Fantastic watch! I'd give it a 5 star rating, but for one really stupid choice Citizen made: The big orange hand that looks like a second hand? It's not. It's the depth gauge needle underwater (good), but on land, that big huge hand only indicates the charge level. Important, but not nearly important enough for the most visible feature of the watch to display 99% of the time. Instead, seconds are relegated to one of the small inset dials.

Better would have been for that small inset dial to indicate charge, and the big orange hand to show seconds on land, and depth underwater. Perhaps the charge meter (useless underwater) could double for seconds once you're actually submerged... but it's lousy placement for the full time seconds display.

The watch face is somewhat busy and can be a little hard to read as a result, at times, but that could be my preference for digital (when reading), even though I prefer the look of analog.

The last other minor nit is the depth dial is displayed in 5' increments, which would be fine, except the needle also moves only in 5' increments. It "ticks" from one 5' segment to the next, so you don't know if you're at 18' or 16'. This is not mentioned in any literature I noticed, but you learn it the first time you descend and see it in action.

Overall, I love the look, and it suffices as a backup gauge, which is why I bought it, so I still like the watch. I'm just annoyed by those few flaws to an otherwise fantastic watch.

Summary: Works Down Under too!
Comment: Firstly, A big thankyou to Amazon for the prompt delivery. Ordered it on the 6th July & recieved the watch on the 10th July on the other side of the world, outstanding.
Arrived well packaged, intact and inside its own 'scuba tank'. A nice touch. The watch looks great, large face and stylish. I read a couple of reviews in regard to the metal band restraints moving... Pinch them gently together with pliers (and a cloth so as not to scratch them)...Easy fixed.
I look forward to many years of use from it and many more purchases from Amazon. Now, if they would only ship electronic/electrical items to this region of the planet...

Summary: Citizen Dive Watch
Comment: Great watch, no problems, looks good. My last Citizen dive watch wasn't solar powered and after the factory battery went dead I would have to replace the battery every year. A friend has had this model for 7 years and wares it daily and has never had a battery problem, even after 6 month tours in a submarine.
