Editorial Reviews:

Low glare lighting for garden landscaping or to outline a walk or steps, the Malibu LX58720P low voltage lighting kit is a great DIY project. The kit includes 14 tier lights and 6 Zoom Floodlights, which can be changed to spot lights with a turn of the wrist. The fixtures can be arranged in any pattern along the 100 feet of cable included with the kit. Each 12-volt 4-watt fixture is attached to the cable with a quick clamp system, which also allows for additional fixtures to be added as needed. Power is supplied by an 80-watt Photo Control power pack that plugs into any standard grounded household outlet. --C. Dwight Barnett

Summary: Great!
Comment: Brightness is great (brighter and more of a pleasant color) than LED lights. Easy to install (although the directions definitely leave you to figure out a few things on your own... in some places, the directions were plain wrong in their diagrams of the product).

The lights are plastic which has it's advantages and disadvantages: they will never rust or loose color, but they do feel a little flimsy (make sure to place the lights in places where they won't be hit by people walking or land mowers or whatever). I was concerned that they would look cheap in the daylight, but really, once they're placed in the yard/landscape/garden, all you really notice is that there's a light there that is a nice design. - you don't really bother looking closely enough at it, so the potential 'cheapness' of the appearance never becomes an issue - all you notice is a luxurious feeling that the lights give to the landscape, whether it's day or night.

One thing I did have to do is to by an additional power cord. The one included is 100 feet, but if you were to put all 20 lights in that length of cord, you'd have a really densely lighted area! I added an additional 100 feet with no reduction in light brightness and no other problems.

Summary: Not as bad as anticipated!
Comment: First of all we love Amazon.com. These lights came in 2 days! My husband and I put them together; no missing parts and everything went together like it was supposed to. The only thing that wasn't quite clear was that the transformer has to be 10 feet away from the first light. We also spliced into the wire which was okay too. The lights are so nice across the front of our house (on both sides) and they automatically come on and off every night. Neighbors commented how nice they look. Little spotlights are nice too and can be adjusted to shine across your walkway. Would buy again!

Summary: good for backyard
Comment: just a quick review: the lights were easy to assemble, but because it's so many, it took about an hour. None of the plastic parts were broken or in bad quality unlike for some other reviewers.

With 100feet the cable is actually pretty long, but the first light has to be at least 13ft away from the transformer, so keep this in mind when thinking about the layout.

Also, everything is plastic, so it's not as nice looking as other metal lights, but serves its purpose for the backyard.

Another fact to consider: This transformer doesn't have a timer, it has the light sensor, so when it gets dark, the lights go on. There is actually the same set available with a timer instead. Or you can just buy one of those cheap timers and plug it in there.

Last, the lights on these will be nicer and more consistent than solar lights, especially if they are under bushes or anywhere solar lights won't get enough light to recharge.

Summary: Incredible Value
Comment: My only complaint could be too many lights? I didn't use them all. This set is great, effective as landscape or security lighting. Simple to use with a fool proof on/off timer. Very economical. Nice weather proof design. A bargain!

Summary: Good product, good price, one minor "gotcha"...
Comment: These lights work great and are a great price. However, with this many lights, it really should come with a higher voltage power pack and more cable. To keep the lights spread out at a decent distance from each other, I wound up adding an additional 100 feet of cable. After adding that, they were too dim. So I had to purchase a second power pack and split the load up. Of course, I was using them as a lawn perimeter. I suppose if you were placing them as just pathway lights, having each light only a few feet apart would work. I've just never been fond of the lights placed that close together.
