Customer Rating: Summary: Great deal Comment: This system DOES work. Is it uncomfortable? Yes. But hair removal almost always is. I've been working on my legs, (which takes a very loooong time) and when done correctly, the hair has not grown back. I know this because the places I've zapped are hair-free. A stark contrast to the ones that aren't. PLUS, this product is $35.00!!! You can't beat that!
Customer Rating: Summary: stupid thing Comment: this machine kind of kills your hair, but it takes a plenty of time, the process is really painful (I can stand pain, but not for such a result!), and the skin looks awful even a couple days after!
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good product Comment: I have been using this product for a few weeks and it seems to work pretty well. I have noticed that many of the treated hairs have not come back.
Customer Rating: Summary: Painful and does not work Comment: I ordered this in hopes that it would live up to some of the positive reviews. I was wrong. Not only is this product painful but it is loud and time consuming. On the lowest setting, 1, the product burned my skin on each attempt. I was left with marks for many weeks. Also, the product makes a loud and scary beeping noise (that is not mentioned in the instructions). Each hair should take fifteen seconds to remove but for me that is too long to be in pain. It hurts for the entire 15 seconds and then some white goo comes out of your follicle. Only a few times did the hair slide out. But with that said, that was not enough to make me use the product anymore. Not only was it very painful on setting 1 (I cannot imagine it on 10~! yikes!), but it also left marks on my skin. The tip was flimsy and having your hands wet with a salt solution was a real hassle(not "clean" or "easy"). I returned it promptly. I was issued a product refund but nothing for shipping charges I paid both ways. I hope this helps anyone who is thinking of trying this product!
Customer Rating: Summary: Not Worth It IMO Comment: I bought this product about fifteen years ago and was very disappointed in it. From the other reviews and the product pic, it looks like they haven't made any improvements to it either. It sounds and looks exactly the same as it did in the early '90's. This machine is definitely not clean or easy, either. For one you have to fill a cup with this salt water mixture, dip your fingers in it and hold the metal part of the stylus with your hands. Then you have to locate the hair shaft and put the stylus needle in it. When you locate the hair shaft, the machine makes a loud beeping noise. You have to do each individual hair like this. It stings a little bit, but I didn't find it painful, and I had it on the highest setting. There's a lot of pus and redness and this takes a long time to heal. I have some permanent scarring because of this too. (Making it LESS likely I would wear a bathing suit, instead of MORE like it was supposed to do.) And the real bummer was about 75 percent of the hairs came back. I usually had to repeat the treatments about six or seven times before the hair stopped growing. The stylus and the machine itself are very delicate (you'll probably be replacing it about once a year if you use it often). Depending where you want to remove the hair, it can be a real hassle to use. And if you need to remove a lot of hair, forget it. Using this thing, it will take you forever, guaranteed.
I used this thing every day for about two years straight and maybe removed about one square inch of bikini area hair, most of which I had to treat repeatedly becuase the hairs just kept returning. I finally gave up when the person in the apartment next to mine actually called the fire department because they thought the beeping sound was my carbon monoxide detector going off! That was a joy explaining to the fire department in my bath robe and slippers that the beeping was from my electrolysis machine. So much for keeping the whole matter private!
The only thing it's really good for is if you have a few thick hairs in an easy to reach area, like your face or chin. I treated a few hairs in this general area and it seemed to work fine, though you'll have to do the same hairs over multiple times, like I said before. If you have a large area you need to treat, don't even bother with this at all. It's a total waste of time. Just save up the money and get laser treatments.
